A Hierarchy of Her Own
Every month, we celebrate and feature a woman who went for it, bringing their vision and passion to life. While their businesses and projects vary — they all have battled through self-doubt, jumped before fully ready and embarked on entrepreneurship while simultaneously carrying a heavy load specially reserved for modern mothers.
For May, we are chatting with Leslie Forde, founder of Mom’s Hierarchy of Needs — a company that provides moms with products, research and community, to reclaim time from the never-done list for their well-being. Her business also supports organizations to promote wellness for parents at greater risk for burnout with self-care research, rituals and software while teaching managers to disrupt patterns that cause fatigue.
After reaching complete burnout in her own life as an exhausted mom with a demanding corporate job, a colleague asked Forde a simple question: why are moms so stressed out? Her response would change the course of her career and life, as well as the lives of many others.
We discussed all the things including burn out, what needs to change in the workplace, what to look for in an employer, the truth about entrepreneurship and mental health and how to reach the top of the Mom’s Hierarchy of Needs more often.
